Almost every cybersecurity professional has the same story. They warn a friend or family member about password reuse, weak two-factor, or phishing risk. The friend nods politely and does nothing. The pattern is almost universal, and it isn’t really about laziness. It’s about how humans evaluate risk, and the math of prevention is structurally unfavorable.

A friend who got hacked is meaningfully more likely to harden their accounts than someone who only read about it.
